1) Big Brew was a success as usual.  There were 5 clubs, 34 brewers, and 174 gallons brewed.

 

2) Joe O’Keefe and Rob Farrell won ribbons at BURP’s Spirit of Free Beer.  Rob got a first place in the Scottish/Irish category with his “Keep Your Kilt On” Scottish light.  See all results at http://sofb.brewcomp.com/

 

3) The CRABS food and beer pairing will be on Sunday May 31 at 2:00 PM at Trevor’s house.  A Google docs link will be sent so you can sign up and seek a partner for your food or beer.

 

4) On June 2, Barley and Hops will be tapping a beer that was brewed from Rob Farrell’s recipe of a beer that won Best of Show in last year’s Battle of the Bubbles.

 

5) The next “First Thursday” happy hour will be held on June 4 starting at 6:00 PM at Pratt Street Ale House.  It’ll be outside if the weather’s nice, otherwise inside.  The Orioles are out of town that day so the place shouldn’t be too crowded.

 

6) The Guild picnic will occur on Saturday June 6, noon-dusk, at Patapsco Park, Hollofield area, shelter #300.  There will be a wheat beer competition.  See http://www.mdhomebrewers.com/?page_id=89 for more info.

9) Crabs4CRABS will happen on Sunday September 13.  More details to follow in the coming months.

 

10) This month’s competition was session ales (4.5% ABV or less).  There were 11 entries.  Winners were:
