- For the Iron Brewer contest, at the December meeting we will select 3 ingredients and you have to use 2 of them.
- We are planning a Pale Ale project where everyone brews with a selection of malt and hops, and we vary other ingredients such as yeast, adjuncts, or maybe experimental hops.
- In December, Dick will be getting a brew-in-the bag, where you mash in a big mesh sack, which obviates a mash tun. He plans to do a brew and invites is to lift his sack.
- Heavy Seas Ale House has monthly speakers. Perhaps one of us could give a talk in November or December.
- Sometime in the future, the room we have had our meetings in will be demolished and we will move to the new Heavy Seas tap room.
- The December meeting will feature pot luck food, the selection of Iron Brewer ingredients, officer elections, and a 750 swap.
- A reminder to drink responsibly at meetings. One good idea to limit beer sample size is to bring a tiny cup that only holds an ounce or two. Yours truly will be doing this since my liver is almost as tiny as my shmekel.
- This month’s competition was fall seasonal (Oktoberfest/pumpkin). We had 8 entries. The winners were:
- 5th place – Mike Bodnar
- 4th place – Rob Kiernan
- 3rd place – Mike Stuppy
- 2nd place – Craig Bryant
- 1st place – Joe O’Keefe
- Next meeting: November 20. Beer style is stouts.
